The Classics Circuit is taking a Georgette Heyer Tour this month. I thought I would piggyback in a circuitous way, and add my own reviews where they fit in. Such fun! For those who have not read Georgette’s sparkling novels, mostly set during the Regency era, you have missed a treat. Although Ms. Heyer’s writing lacks the depth of Jane Austen’s novels, they are historically accurate and largely FUN to read. Going backwards, here is a recap of the first four days of the tour (I am including only the novels set in the Regency era), with my own reviews thrown in:
March 4 Sparks’ Notes Review: Friday’s Child, My Review of Friday’s Child
March 3 Michelle’s Masterful Musings Review: Devil’s Cub
March 2 Enchanted by Josephine Review: Beauvallet
March 1 Austenprose Review: Georgette Heyer’s Regency World by Jennifer Kloester
March 1 One Librarian’s Book Reviews Review: Frederica; My review of Frederica

Thank you for featuring Georgette Heyer, a writer I have just discovered thanks to her mysteries being republished and promoted at B&N. I have not ventured into the romances yet but the mysteries are delightful, good character devlopment and I cannot always guess “who dunnit” half-way through.
This will be my first time participating in the Classics Curcuit and I’m very excited. I just started reading Heyer last fall and have gotten my husband hooked too. We read her novels aloud to each other, laughing hysterically all the while. The other day he actually said “Doing it a bit too brown” and I almost died of hysterics. Friday’s Child is one of my favorites.
There must be something in the atmosphere! Our Risky Regencies blog ( http://riskyregencies.blogspot.com/ ) is hosting a Regency Read Along of Georgette Heyer’s Venetia.
We, Diane Gaston (Mills & Boon), Amanda McCabe (Mills & Boon and as Laurel McKee for Hachette), Carolyn Jewel (Berkeley), Janet Mullany (Little Black Dress) and Megan Frampton (Signet), are Regency Romance authors and lovers of all things Regency, which we share in a not so serious way on our blog.
From March 10 to 31 we and our readers will be reading Venetia at the same time and talking about it, all led by Carolyn. We’re also giving prizes to some randomly selected commenters who join the discussion. So if you love Heyer’s Venetia (or not), or you want an excuse to read it, come join us!

Thanks so much for introducing me to Georgette Heyer, Vic! I’ve read five of her books now and it makes me totally happy that I have forty or more still to go! Just finished reading An Infamous Army – accidentally I read it last week, when it was the 195th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. It’s really an impressive book and the battle is part of our Dutch history, so that makes it even more interesting. Waterloo isn’t really far from here, so I will pay the memorial site a visit this summer, I think.
Thanks again and looking forward to more of your writings on Georgette Heyer!
It is indeed a pleasure to be a part of the Georgette Heyer fan club. I am proud of my personal collection and would love to write a screenplay for a Bollywood movie with my all time favourite ‘Frederica’. I think i would cast Shahrukh khan and vidya balan as the lead characters.
