Which Jane Austen Character Do You Resemble Most?

March 15, 2007 by Vic

Take this quiz from the Jane Austen Character Selector and find out.I predicted I would be most like Marianne Dashwood but I wanted to be Lizzy.

Well, I am not so far off. I will need to learn more about Catherine, since Northanger Abbey is my least favorite Jane novel.

But Lydia? Lydia! LYDIA! No!!!

Oh, and how did I get to be like Mr. Bingley/Jane Bennett?

Here are the top 6 results from my quiz:

#1 Catherine from Northanger Abbey

#2 Mariane Dashwood from Sense & Sensibility

#3 Lousia Musgrove from Persuasion

#4 Lydia Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

#5 Eliza Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

#6 Mr. Bingley /Jane Bennet from Pride & PrejudiceWhew, I took the quiz again, only this time I entered the level of importance for each question, and Marianne did come out on top. Yes folks, I admit it. I am a romantic, impestuous woman. But this is the difference between me and Marianne: I have always adored Colonel Brandon. Here are the second set of results. Whew. Double Whew. But what the heck is Lydia still doing there?

#1 Mariane Dashwood from Sense & Sensibility

#2 Mr. Bingley / Jane Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

#3 Catherine from Northanger Abbey

#4 Lousia Musgrove from Persuasion

#5 Lydia Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

#6 Eliza Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

Thanks so much. I enjoyed taking the quiz.

My prediction: I’d be most like Mariane Dashwood. I was correct! What a surprise.

    My results:
#1 Mariane Dashwood from Sense & Sensibility

#2 Mr. Bingley /Jane Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

    #3 Catherine from Northanger Abbey

    #4 Fanny from Mansfield Park

I enjoy your blog and know my friends at the library/museum will enjoy it too!

So nice to know there’s another Marianne Dashwood running around!!

  3. on April 17, 2009 at 06:07 Amber

Oh, I got Elizabeth Bennet! If only we all had a Mr Darcy, eh?

    • on August 19, 2009 at 09:53 Vic

I only came up as Elizabeth Bennet once in another quiz. Oh, how I envy you!

    • on June 12, 2012 at 07:14 Illy

I got Lizzie, too!! :)) I love her!

  4. on June 5, 2009 at 00:23 Janice

Your blog is great and so was this quiz :)

My #1 is: Catherine from Northanger Abbey
My #2 is: Willoughby from Sense & Sensibility
My #3 is: Lady Catherine de Bourgh from Pride & Prejudice
My #4 is: Lucy Steele from Sense & Sensibility
My #5 is: Emma Woodhouse from Emma

I’m still not over the fact that I resemble Lady Catherine de Bourgh, haha!

    • on August 19, 2009 at 09:52 Vic

Lady Catherine had her good qualities. She was a master zombie slayer! Er, wrong book.

I stumbled upon this blog, but I’m attracted to most things Austen, so I will be back! My results were this:

    1. Elinor Dashwood (which was very exciting because she is my absolute favorite Austen character. I’ve always wanted to be like her since I first read S & S)

    2. Catherine from Northanger Abbey (bit of an imagination on that one. But I’m okay with this because Northanger Abbey was a sarcastic commentary on the “sensation novel.” I respect that.)

    3. Eliza Bennet (I love her. She’s no-nonsense.)

    4. Mr. Bingley/Jane Bennet (A little ridiculous, but nice people)

    5. Anne Elliot (Another no-nonsense woman. I love that I’m getting the sensible characters.)

    6. Mr. Knightley (Don’t get angry, but I love him better than any other Austen hero, even Mr. Darcy. Col Brandon is a close second, however. :) )

    • on August 19, 2009 at 09:51 Vic

I love it when people find out that they resemble their favorite character!

  6. on August 19, 2009 at 06:31 Elizabeth

Not quite sure how Miss Bates got to be in there, or Harriet Smith either, but the no. 1 is certainly correct!

My #1 is: Marianne Dashwood from _Sense & Sensibility_
My #2 is: Mr. Bingley / Jane Bennet from _Pride & Prejudice_
My #3 is: Catherine from _Northanger Abbey_ B
My #4 is: Fanny from _Mansfield Park_
My #5 is: Harriet Smith from _Emma_
My #6 is: Miss Bates from _Emma_
My #7 is: Elinor Dashwood from _Sense & Sensibility_ Books, etc.
My #8 is: Eliza Bennet from _Pride & Prejudice_ etc.
My #9 is: Frank Churchill from _Emma_
My #10 is: Mr Knightley from _Emma

    • on August 19, 2009 at 09:50 Vic

I love all Marianne Dashwoods! Too funny about Miss Bates.

  7. on November 19, 2009 at 16:06 Lara

I love all the things related to Jane Austen, so I had to take the quiz..:)

My #1 is: Mr. Bingley / Jane Bennet
    My #2 is: Fanny
    My #3 is: Mariane Dashwood
    My #4 is: Miss Bates
    My #5 is: Catherine etc.
    My #6 is: Harriet Smith
Not quite sure how Harriet and Miss Bates made it on the list but hey it’s good that I’m not Heathcliff. :)

I know this post is so old but…I couldn’t help but take the test and then rejoice/boast about my results

My #1 is: Eliza Bennet from _Pride & Prejudice_
My #2 is: Elinor Dashwood from _Sense & Sensibility_
My #3 is: Anne Elliot from _Persuasion_
My #4 is: Mr. Bingley / Jane Bennet from _Pride &
My #5 is: Jane Fairfax from _Emma_
My #6 is: Mr Knightley from _Emma_

Lizzy character won by a long shot but I really do feel most attached to Elinor and Lizzy’s character… and I feel I’m a mixture of both… Love your site…I’ll be coming back.. I hope your still posting. Now to find more quiz’s.

[...] I guess I may have to, so that I can decide how to feel about some of the results.  Thanks much to Jane Austen’s World for bringing this particular bit of flotsam to my attention. It was just the thing to lighten up [...]

  10. on June 10, 2011 at 09:46 ♕ Queen Becky ♕

I got Anne Elliot, then Elinor Dashwood. :D

  11. on April 6, 2012 at 07:16 Abc

I’ve not (yet) read Northanger Abbey but I got Catherine ! *want to read it now*. Otherwise my results :
    #2 Mariane Dashwood
    #3 Elinor Dashwood
    #4 Mr Knightley
#5 Mr. Bingley / Jane Bennet
    #6 Captain Wentworth
    #7 Lousia Musgrove
    #8 Lydia Bennet
    #9 Mr. Darcy
    #10 Eliza Bennet

How is it even possible to Lydia Bennet and Mr Darcy at the same time ? And Marianne et Elinor are quite different too… 4 men/5 women, I’m well-balanced I guess ! Anyway, my personnality is closer to Elinor, Mr Darcy or Lizzy.

    Thx for this quiz :)

Brilliant quiz, I really enjoyed taking it and I love your blog- I got 100% like Marianne Dashwood and 81% like Fanny in Northanger Abbey- though I’ve never read it!

  13. on April 29, 2013 at 08:05 scarlett

Lovely quiz! I got: 1) Lizzy / Darcy (how I want my own Darcy!)
    2) Catherine Morland (bit perplexed by that since I have a reputation of being kind of cynical & practical. But I do love reading novels….)
    3)Elinor (nice!)
    4) Wlloughby (??????!!!!!!!!)
    5) Emma (hmmm… ok i guess) :)
    Great blog too.

  • My Regency Tea Cup Review Ratings

    • Five Regency tea cups: The book is not perfect (few books are), but it was well worth its purchase and possesses many outstanding qualities that makes it stand head and shoulders above its counterparts.
    • Four Regency tea cups: This book offered many hours of pleasant reading, and I found I could not put it down.
    • Three Regency tea cups: Damned with faint praise. I put the book down often, but was intrigued enough to finish it. In this instance, the movie might be better.
    • Two Regency tea cups: This book required major changes that the author and editor should have fixed before publishing deadline.
    • One Regency tea cup: Oh dear. I do so feel for the trees that sacrificed their lives for this verbal garbage.
